We’re now heading into one of our most favorite times of the year!
Starting November 1st regulations change here on the Upper Rogue from fly only back to allowing lures and bait. There are plentiful steelhead in the upper river and with this change the 1st week or 2 of November is a productive time to steelhead fish.
We are also gearing up for salmon season on the coast. With cooler fall temperatures and showers, with more rain to follow, the coastal season will be in full swing soon.
The Chetco River near Brookings is fishing well in the estuary, with a few kings in the lower river. Fishing on the Chetco will peak over the next few weeks.
We also fish the Elk and Sixes near Port Orford, just north of Gold Beach, for salmon which tends to be best around Thanksgiving. With both of these river mouths already open, we are just waiting on a good push of rain to get salmon moving upstream.
November offers plenty of options to get outdoors from steelheading on the Rogue to salmon fishing on the coast with the added benefit of less anglers and pressure on the river after the busy summer season.
