Rogue River spring Chinook have made a stong showing in 2024 with 7213 salmon already in the hatchery as of June 26th. Due to this early and robust return, 2750 salmon have been recycled back downstream giving anglers a 2nd chance at landing one of these Rogue River kings.
As of July 1st retention of wild salmon is allowed in most sections of the Rogue in addition to hatchery fish, meaning any salmon you catch now are keepers. (Prior to the 1st only hatchery salmon could be kept).
And as some anglers move just downstream seeking their salmon limits, pressure on the uppermost section of the Rogue lessens making more room for fly anglers seeking summer steelhead and trout in the quiet of the upper river.
Summer steelhead numbers will continue to grow over the next weeks and months and with the imminent arrival of our summer/fall run of salmon and the dropping river level, these next few months will be productive times to target both salmon and steelhead.
Our guides will be fishing for king salmon now through September and summer steelhead through November on the Upper and Middle Rogue River.
